Monday Made It Linky & Jersey Shore, Baby!!

I'm super excited!  This is my first linky EVER!!  I hope I don't screw it up!  I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It.
So, my Made It item isn't exactly a "teacher product"(I haven't been on vacation long enough to start thinking about next year), but maybe you can find it helpful and I hope I'm not breaking "linky party" rules.  We are going to the Jersey Shore this summer.  Nope, I won't be hanging out with Snookie or The Situation.  My husband is originally from New Jersey and I've never visited his hometown.  Now, if all you know about people from New Jersey are from shows like The Jersey Shore or Real Housewives of NJ, they aren't ALL like that.  Just like not all Texans walk around sporting a gallon size Cowboy hat, massive belt buckle, Cowboy boots and sayin' "Hey, Y'all".  Ok, so the last part isn't a lie...we all say that here in the south!

Well, we are going to be flying and it's my girls' first plane ride.  I wanted to put together a little "fun" box to keep the girls occupied.  Take a look...

Now, my silly husband seemed to think all we needed to bring was their leapsters, our Kindles and Iphones, but they will get bored with those things after a while.  Plus, I've downloaded several books on my Kindle that I want to read...it's all about me. (kidding!)

A few years ago, one of my students gave me a box like the one in the photo for teacher appreciation week.  I thought it would be perfect...big enough to hold several things, but slim enough that it won't take up too much room.  It's called a "project box" and I bought it at Office Depot for about $7.  The coloring books, puzzles, markers, crayons, stickers were purchased from the dollar section at Target (I love Target!)  The Tic-Tac-Toe, Dot-to-Dot and playing cards were all purchased at Target too, but they were found in a different section.

Well, that's my Monday Made It!

  1. When I first moved to Texas, my Mom and I had a waitress ask us, "How all y'all doin'?" I've been here 20 years now and say it all the time.

I wonder when you visit New Jersey, if the waitress will say, "How you doin'?" (like Joey on Friends).

    Anyway...have a good trip!

    1. I know, it will be interesting. We are making a stop in NYC too & it's been about 9 years since I've been, but everywhere I went people would say "You're from Texas, right?".

  2. I LOVE it! I remember when I was younger and my mom did the same thing for my sister and me. It was awesome and kept us quiet (Not an easy feat!). I found you through the Monday Made It linky party. We share two things in common -- our first names and that we both teach 4th grade! I'd love it if you would stop by my blog sometime. I'm looking forward to following you!
